Support for local disaster victims

At Kokorogake, salon activities, home visits, and preventive educational activities are conducted by professional health professionals. We would like to supplement the medical services centered on conventional hospital visits, implement a new comprehensive regional health care model that leads to early visits and disease prevention, and establish it in the community. The

Earthquake disaster consultation room

fig9Every Friday afternoon, the psychiatrist, a psychiatrist, is engaged in consultation services at the Earthquake Stress Consultation Office (Large Terrace) operated by the “Iwate Kokoro Care Center” (commissioned to Iwate Medical University). We want to build a relationship of trust with local residents by making the same doctors in charge continuously, and make it an “easy to consult” place.

Salon activities

fig10The “salon” held at temporary housing venues is a “tea drinking party” (called “Ochakko” in Daegu). We are trying to make it fun to participate, such as exercise experiences for fall prevention and relaxation, mental health lectures by doctors, talks for casual chatting, and occasional guests to enjoy rakugo and music. Through direct contact with the local people, we will help to raise awareness of the modulation of the mind, leading to early consultation, and helping to improve self-care ability.

The The life support counselor is a supporter who is well versed in the local culture and is a disaster victim, and has a high level of empathy to watch over the affected people. From the standpoint of “support role”, we strive to specialize in highly specialized needs such as blood pressure measurement and health consultation.

Workplace workshops

fig13Focusing on occupational areas where “support for men” is possible, we grasp the problems faced by recovery support providers (corporates and organizations) and hold workshops in line with their workplace conditions and issues. Salons and visiting activities that enter the lives of victims are often targeted at women and the elderly, and are intended for workers who tend to be excluded from the support.
